Fort De Soto Park Campground
Fort De Soto is an enchanting campground in a serene setting surrounded by water. There’s so much to do from the launch point of the grounds including a visit to the dog-friendly beach, canoeing, paddleboarding, or exploring one of the many walkways. The staff is friendly, and the park is well-maintained with plenty of waste bins and clean bathrooms. If you have children in tow, there’s a nice playground for them to enjoy.
St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA
This hidden gem is nestled in an enclosed area not too far from town. On one side of the park, there is access to the water where you can take a boat out, do some fishing, or go kayaking. The Pinellas Trail is right there as well for an invigorating trail ride or casual stroll. It’s a clean park with great staff that will make sure you have an enjoyable stay. There are also nice spots for the RV folks.
Alafia River State Park
When it comes to campgrounds near Tamps, this remote camping spot will provide the seclusion and access to nature that you’ve been craving. It’s a great spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and a place where you can beat the heat by taking a dip in the nearby river. The park and trails have recently been upgraded and the State has done a wonderful job getting it into tip-top shape. Alafia is an epic spot for mountain biking as well.
Clearwater Lake Tarpon KOA
This small and charming campground makes the ideal spot for a weekend getaway away from the noise of the city. There’s ample green space to frolic on and a beautiful butterfly garden to explore and soak in all of nature’s gifts. The pool is sparkling clean and a refreshing delight on a hot Florida day.
